Ego and Pride
Pride is the state or feeling of being proud. You feel proud about goals reached or achievements completed. I am proud of my son as he completed graduation. This statement is good if it ends here, but in case it turns out like this “My son is the best, he finished his graduation with high grades.” You feel like letting the whole world know about this feeling. You call few friends to show how proud you are on your son’s achievement but you feel hurt or bad when you come to know that your friend’s son has a higher score than your son. You get feeling that someone just ruined your happy moment. EGO says don’t call that friend anymore. Don’t worry about his or her son’s grade. His or her son cheated into the exam.
It is not difficult to recognize existence of EGO. EGO comes in as soon as you have feeling to prove others that “look at me, I am better than you or I have achieved more than you.”
Let go of EGO. How to let go?

Just like you confuse ego and id, you also confuse pride and arrogance…
Arrogance:
offensive display of superiority or self-importance; overbearing pride.
